Are we actively supporting these rebels? If no, why not? If it stretches Russia’ Putin’s
ability to wage war in Ukraine, shouldn’t we be be tripling down on these rebels kicking Bashir Assad’s ass in Syria?
The rebels are a rather wide assortment of groups. Some have shot at each other quite substantially in the past. IF the ISIS types are basically commanding the operation, that’s a worry, as we know how fast they can gain momentum over quite large areas and populations.
A good question is whether or not Russia wants to make a major effort here? If the rebels get well dug in before Russia can mount a large operation, said operation could be another long and costly operation.
