LOL- you keep posting this crap with no context- its no different than a state funding a $1.5 billion football stadium. They fund the race because the return is great with the amount of money they bring in from people traveling to Austin for the event.

COTA says in its first decade, it accounted for $7 billion in economic impact to Austin and Texas, providing Texans more than 64,000 jobs every year, with the Austin Business Journal equating it to hosting a Super Bowl annually.”
