What may be happening here is the end state of the co-option of the various 70's "liberation" movements by the Left as a tool for the advancement of a broader ideology. That end state comes when it becomes apparent that the leaders of those movements operate at the expense of the groups they were ostensibly intended to advance. Evidence for this hypothesis consists of BLM activists in thousand-dollar suits living in million-dollar mansions, and of mentally unstable men being injected into women's athletics at the expense of real women. They were always scams, at least to a degree, and now they've become obvious ones.

This does not bring the original intentions of those movements into question so much as their betrayal by the cynical and power-addicted. And, as the saying about all con games goes, sooner or later the marks find out.

Everyone plays the victim today in order to manipulate those in power and get what they want. I would say that is the main contribution that women have had to the political culture, and now men do it too.
