A Washington Post poll, maybe 10-15 years ago, of Native Americans found that 90% either supported Native American names and images for sport’s teams, or were not bothered by it. It is white liberals driving the outrage.
The Post journalists admitted being stunned by the results. The blue bubble most of the media lives in has no relation to the real world.
White liberal 'elites' want to pretend they're English colonials standing up for downtrodden brown people in Africa. It's all a PBS movie to them - where they're the heroes.
White 'elites' take that same silly mentality and apply it to Native Americans (or whatever the current acceptable phrase is). Anyhow I remember that study - it was the beginning of standing up to delusional liberals... elites didn't care. They ignored the study. Same with calling Hispanic 'latinx' or whatever offensive crap they came up with... so clueless.
Yup. Anadarko, Oklahoma is the "Indian Capital of the Nation." 41% Native American. Here's a pic of their local "Redskin Theater" .
The native Americans never had a problem with the name. It was their “white saviors”.
The Post ran a long article trying to discredit and explain away their own poll.
Later, they ran another poll askign Natives what adjective came to their minds when they thought of the Redskins name and logo.
The most common choice?
“Proud.”
The Post tried to explain that away too. These white liberals think they know what’s offensive to minorities better than teh minorities in question do.
I always thought such logos and team names were celebratory, not derogatory.
