Apparently is was released in 1970 according to Wikipedia.

At first it sounds like a ghost ship with a dead crew like in Salty Dog by Procol Harum, especially with the mermaid on a rock but reading the lyrics more closely it appears to be a call to follow them to a better life or way. I guess it could be either.

Belongs in Kramer’s book Astonishing Tales of the Sea.
