You can find most of that footage Jackson used on YouTube in video Battle of Somme.
I’m 75. When I was 56i went with my kids to see the King Kong remake. 3 hours long and although the effects were excellent the story was woke nonsense. At roughly 3 hours long with no intermission it was unwatchable.
Thank heaven for big screen TVs and streaming.
Accidental or just brutal, I don't know.

That’s too bad, but not a huge surprise.
I love going to the movies as well. I even belong to a “movie club” where I get discounted tickets once a month. I’ve accumulated three months’ worth of ticket. There really hasn’t been much good stuff lately.
I guess we are still “suffering” from the writer’s strike hangover.
If they could only come up with something “new.”
The Trench is a very well-done WWI movie - opening day Battle of the Somme. Has Daniel Craig, Cillian Murphy in it in starring roles.
We saw Twisters at a drive thru. Wife liked it but I didn’t. Better then GII though.
The lead character is supposed to be the son of Russel Crowe’s Maximus, which means Maximus wasn’t faithful to his wife which was kinda the whole point of the first film.
So you like Gladiator movies, huh?
Southern Nevada in the summer. A torrential rain can submerge a parking lot and one hour later it’s dry and dusty again. :)
Don’t have those issues where we live. Our theater always has an off duty police officer on site. Troublemakers are dealt with quickly. At 62, it’s rare for me to get up in the middle of the night, let alone during a two hour movie.
The chariot scene in the original where you can see the propane tank was more believable then the boat scene.
“His movies generally look great, but they are not great movies.”
Agreed. Alien was a great movie but Prometheus and Covenant were woeful although they looked great.
Is he still making movies, making music, and fighting around the World?
Twisters is at least harmless.
The last theater movie I saw was “Iron Man” in 2008...
For decades, Hollywood was run by ruthless businessmen who knew good stories and scripts from bad ones, tightly controlled budgets and schedules, and kept the creative talent on a leash. Now Hollywood and the news media are mostly run by woke types who are smugly running their businesses into the ground.
Not Maximus’ kid. The son of Commodus’ sister.
Nowadays the best films are foreign ones!
The fact that they had a black man play a Roman Emperor should have been the first clue that this movie was crap.
