A Tennessee man is grieving the deaths of his seven dogs who were shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy while the owner and his wife were out to dinner.
On Monday, Nov. 4, Kevin Dismuke and his wife left their home in McNairy County to go to dinner, Fox 13 reports.
When his wife returned to their home on Finger Leapwood Road, she called him with shocking news.
“She said, ‘Poe is dead,’” he said, referring to one of their pet dogs.
According to News 3, Dismuke said he returned home to find all of his dogs except one were dead.
“They were told the property was abandoned and the dogs were malnourished,” Dismuke added, News 3 reports. “I got the veterinary paperwork in my truck from three weeks ago. They all had a clean bill of health on them.”
Dismuke said a neighbor told him a deputy came to his house while he was gone and shot the dogs, Fox 13 reports.
Dismuke and his family are heartbroken over the deaths of their beloved dogs.
“I don’t care if you give me $10 if you give me $10 million," he told News 3. "You can’t replace my dogs.”
According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, which launched an investigation on Nov. 7, the incident began when the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department received an animal welfare concern call on Nov. 4.

I was going to say, he may be an idiot, but he wasn’t going around killing people’s pets.
I am going to admit that growing up the the country in the 70’s, I killed far more than my share of dogs. I never went on other peoples property and just randomly killed any.
If a dog was going after and killing my chickens, he got a lead snack. If he threatened any member of my family or me, he got a lead snack.

He already killed one person (involved in a shooting resulting in loss of life), and then shot at someone who shot themselves.

He shot the ceiling, the floor and maybe a few walls.
When I first moved out of my parents’ house, I adopted a Pugle and named her Lucy. I should have known better when the place I got her from made me sign paperwork stating that I won’t come back seeking damages if the dog gets parvo or some other illness, as they, “got the sog all of its necessary shots and medical care.” Yet they gave me no paperwork to prove this.
Stupid twenty-one year-old me.
She had parvo, and I gave her to one of my mom’s friends, who could afford to treat it. She died two weeks later, and the place I got her from faced a class-action lawsuit that closed them down permanently. Sadly, I wasn’t part of that lawsuit.
My Boxer/Pit is just a sweet dog, and if anyone threatens or hurts her, they will learn new ways to suffer. She’s getting on in years, and I’ll be a mess when she’s gone.
That's a whole different thing from trespassing on somebody else's property and killing their dogs ...

He worked as a deputy for a month. This is a guy who couldn’t wait to use his gun.
Sounds like he was practicing to upgrade to people murdering.

Considering the above, I don't think dog breed really matters.

This past April Fool’s Day, my beloved Australian Cattle Dog was put to sleep after being struck by an SUV. We are still grieving our loss.
I can’t wrap my mind over coming home and finding seven murdered dogs. That would be torture.
these folks need to bring a MASSIVE lawsuit against the County and the Sheriff’s department ... don’t settle for less than ten million dollars ...
