My impression is that Homo Erectus fossils are quite rare in Africa, specifically around the 6 million year old period when proto-humans were branching off from chimpanzees and bonobos.
By the way, bonobos (a slender chimpanzee, with less hair, that eats almost nothing but high sugar fruits) are probably the most promiscuous ape of all time.
Bonobos - male and female - have sex several times, every day, including group sex and gay sex.
