I don’t disagree this is a problem.
But selfish people are still selfish when they have kids. Now they have victims of their selfishness. Often generationally.
I had parents like that. It was an unpleasant childhood, and I had very little to do with either parent once an adult. I fulfill my Biblical mandate and nothing more, putting far more into my wife, children, my siblings, and the wife’s parents (who were lovely).
I’m doing fine because I joined the military young and got away. My siblings are permanently damaged. And Democrats. One insanely so. They passed the selfishness down to their children.
In sum, I don’t think selfish people having kids is a bad thing. It’s probably for the best, overall, in fact.
What you write is true.
I remember my Dads brother answering my question of “why do you only have two children”?
I came from a family of 7 children, although at the time there were only 5, there would be 2 more sisters. I can remember singing to the youngest in her crib, I was 14 year old.
Back to my Uncle, the answer to my heartfelt question was, “Haven’t you ever heard of Planned Parenthood, look it up”. His fruit came to the fore when his children and Wife abandoned him. He did end up with a 57 Chevy two door wagon, and a Z car.
Everyone hated him, even my Father who raised him. He acted superior when he was abandoned by his Mom, after Grandpa passed.
Dad gave up a job of controlling Water in the Klamath Valley. Moved to Tacoma and rescued him from Reman Hall. He
plumbed him up, while raising my oldest Brother. He gave up a lifetime job to sell Knives for Cutco, and worked another shift at a Pulp Mill.
My Father was a Hero, my Uncle was one of the most selfish human beings you could imagine. He was a ZERO.
He was the male version of a cat lady.
