If they came across our southern border it was Mexico's problem before it was ours. Mexico could have dealt with this on their southern border and refused. Their southern border is a whole lot more defensible than ours. They aided and abetted the transit of tons of these non Mexicans. Screw Mexico.

Trump has plenty of leverage enshrined in law to use against countries that don’t accept their nationals back. One big one is shutting off all visas to enter the US by their nationals. It has a major impact economically as well as causing problems for their governments.

The Immigration and Nationality Act provides that, “upon notification by the Attorney General [now by the Secretary of Homeland Security], that a ‘foreign country denies or . . . delays accepting an alien . . . the Secretary of State shall . . . discontinue granting . . . visas . . . to citizens, subjects, nationals and residents of that country’ until the country accepts the alien.”
