A cruise line has announced a “skip forward” vacation for wealthy Americans who want to sail around the world for four years instead of living under President-elect Donald Trump’s second term.
Villa Vie Residences, a luxury vacation company that offers “residential cruising,” began advertising their cruise on November 7 with different plans all the way up to a four-year cruise covering all of Trump’s time in the presidency.
The one-year plan is called “Escape from Reality,” the two-year is called the “Mid-Term Selection,” the three-year is called “Everywhere but Home,” and the four-year option, covering the entire span of Trump’s tenure, is simply called, “Skip Forward.”

I can’t imagine it. I don’t even want to consider imagining it.
Guaranteed that the ship lists to port.
A capital idea! And then put it back into place during his final term.
XD XD XD
Claim it’s unsinkable, have the string quartet play “danger zone” and throttle her up to 35 knots through the North Atlantic the first winter.
They’d form HOAs for each deck and then have intra-mural political wars between the HOA teams. That would keep them occupied and harmless - unless they tried to commandeer the boat.
Day 3 I’m sick of cruise breakfasts, day 4 I’m sick of the lunch buffets. Around that time I’m tired of spending 2 hours in formal dining/dinner and none of the shows or entertainment is left I didn’t see days 1-4.
My wife/kids insist on 8 days and I’m getting sick of the smell of bacon/sausages to the point it makes me nauseous.
4 years on a boat would be a special version of hell.
Sounds like a blast. A ship full of liberals with the trots thanks to the food. Why not just head to San Francisco. Pretty much the same thing without worrying about drowning.
I heard there's even a discount on that service if they help you register to vote.
I read this story. Given Fauci's antics and others like him, how long until there's an actual zombie virus? Who wants to be on a cruise ship during an outbreak unless you happen to leave before patient zero hits the dock?
*kidding, but kind of not kidding* Honestly, it's not the zombie virus that concerns me but rather that they have you helpless and stuck on a massive floating autocracy that's captained by someone who is used to being in absolute control of the boat and has gobs of helpers. Given my personality, I'm pretty confident in being one of the first ones voted off the boat. The COVID cruises at the beginning of the lockdowns were terrifying enough.
Lord of the Flies redux, but this time in luxury...
It would have to; they’d demand refunds if it didn’t.

Please don’t give them any ideas. We want them on a nice, long cruise.
Or at minimum a Life Boat Drill using inflatable Life Boats and then put a couple of holes in each LB with a Pellet Gun. Then the Ship can return to Port to pickup the next group of them and repeat the process until there’s no more of them wanting to embark...
Are they reporting on how many takers so far? Be interesting to know.
I'm not so sure. $25,000 per year, and you have to pay taxes on that, let's say at 32%. You do have expenses - if you get an apartment in Nebraska or Ohio or Mississippi that is comparable to their accommodations on board the little floating island of TDS Karenhood, it gets a little tricky. Figure $1200 minimum rent (although a decent place will cost more). But you also have to include shuffleboard, unlimited buffet, bar (that might make a profit), pool, sauna, gym, etc. At that point, you're up to $2000/month or $24,000/year in expenses. Not a good return on investment to make $1000/year on $24,000 expenses and have to deal with leftist Karens. And we're paying a marginal 32-35% of that in federal taxes plus an additional 10% state and local taxes plus we might theoretically have to provide them utilities. All told, I'd be worried about breaking even at $100,000 for 4 years.
All I'm saying is you might be thinking too small. After all, personal walled compounds are all the craze among "tolerant" leftists. Utilities are all overrated -- if we go with rental rates in Mississippi and exclude utilities, that's an overall savings. And they could have their own pet hissing cockroaches. Also, just thinking and throwing ideaballs here, but consider this -- mandatory arts and crafts could be a total additional side revenue stream just like it is in leftist China!!! If we went all in on this business model, we could be raking in the bucks and doing a public service by giving a segment of society what they (1) think is coming, and (2) also wanted for us.
OTOH, on land, we could probably put something together for $200,000 for 4 years and bring in around 8-10% profit. Side revenue streams and cost cutting measures might bring that up to 16-20% which is total winner in my book. It might involve us having to replicate leftist authoritarianism, but they like that stuff. We will have to stress that the only thing we won't control is personal relationships between inmates...i mean guests. We might even be able to charge a premium by replicating what they think the coming years will be like. Say $250,000 for a 4 year on-land premium "TDS/Authoritarian Fantasy-Land Package".
With those adjustments, I think we have a credible business plan. Why don't you have your people call my people on Monday and maybe we can get ahead of the curve on the new luxury fantasy abusive government camp adventure craze?
You make an excellent point. The problem is that you never know when Patient 0 has already touched foot on land and the epidemic is underway. Living in fear of such would mean no one would sign up for another cruise.
I, on the other hand, have no such fear because my fear is being mortally afraid of being on any substance that I can’t walk away from (like water and air), so will not be signing up for any cruises (or airplane trips) in the near (or far distant) future.
I've told my wife for years that I'm happy for her to do a cruise with a friend. I'll pay for it. But I won't go on a boat. The idea of being stuck on a boat for 8 days at the whim of the cruise company and captain, eating adult-dorm-food, and having to deal with other people that I can't get away from is an absolute nightmare.
I believe you and I could be friends. If there's not ground under my feet, it's a bad day.
