As it happens, my daughter is a solid left Democrat who self-describes as "somewhat of a socialist", which of course is anathema to me (a small-l libertarian). Nevertheless she is very intelligent and accomplished, and retains a lot of what I taught her in earlier years about the Constitution and so forth, so I am very pleased that we can talk about pretty much anything without rancor, even things where we have polar opposite views. She was pretty devastated by the election but is dealing with it well.
I pray that in time your daughter comes to her senses and recognizes that her actions have been needlessly hurtful and her position is frankly pretty dumb. Hope springs eternal. In the meantime, as you say, take heart in the positive things that will come of the recent turn of events politically and socially, and hopefully time will heal this terrible wound.

More proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.
She sent me a beautiful Mother’s Day card with writing on both sides saying what a kind, loving, cheerful mother I’d been and how happy her childhood was. Then 5 months later this happened. I know her mental health has been a little suspect lately but she’s been in grief counseling and regular therapy for the last yr so I thought she had a handle on it. I guess not. All I can do is give it time and let things unfold according to God’s plan.
1/3 of leftist women are being treated for mental illnesses. The other 2/3 are untreated.
