One thing we never hear about is that around the time of Israeli independence, about 700,000 Jews were expelled from or made so uncomfortable in other Muslim nations that they left.
Why do we never hear about them? Because Israel took them in and they embraced their new homeland and lived their lives.
In the early days of negotiations, Israel was asked to compensate the people now called Palestinians. Israel asked for compensation for the Jews who had been expelled. This request was refused.
The so-called Palestinians equivocate: they say they mourn the loss of their ancestral homes, etc., they say they can point out the houses their families lived in for generations (yeah, right).
But the reality is different: there is a Muslim belief that territory once under Muslim rule belongs to Muslims in perpetuity. OBL thought they should get Spain back, for example. This is why the Muslims are so intractable on this small sliver of land.
