According to the Post, Stefanik’s departure would mean Gov. Kathy Hochul has to call a special election within 10 days of her seat’s vacancy.
Stefanik won her re-election bid with more than 60% of the vote over Democratic challenger Paula Collins, according to the New York State Board of Elections. The Republican nominee to replace Stefanik will be chosen by county GOP chairs rather than a primary, according to the Post.
The election might be held before President Trump's inauguration.
Just imagine that the cheat machine in NY only has to concentrate on a single race. A race that may determine who controls congress. If anyone thinks an unheard of republican can win that race then they are delusional. George Santos anyone?
There is another matter as well. Stefanik just ran a race. People voted for her with no indication that she would not fulfill her duty. Her actions are selfish and a betrayal to her district.
