Yep, to me the joy of relationships is deep discussions, and I love the 3am all night wonderfully passionate but friendly and informative arguments, well read, thoughtful, analytical people need those type of relationships and usually their circle of friends is based on that, also frequently their favorite family members, although family includes much more that doesn’t require that someone be interested in anything particular, or even interesting.

“Yep, to me the joy of relationships is deep discussions...”

Good point. And that right there is the best “relationship” advice there is. If your “significant other” is incapable or unwilling to have those deep discussions, you probably need to move on and find someone else to spend the rest of your life with.

I recall my parents’ relationships with their siblings at times didn’t go that well. Some were lefties and incapable of having discussions... so at family events, discussion was usually avoided. Awkward times that should have been only fun and enjoyable.
