I know of one guy who moved to Costa Rica and thought he would live there permanently. Unfortunately, he had a run of bad luck and he is now using Givesendgo to try and come home.
I have been looking at houses/apartments in mostly southern Italy for years.
Mostly because there is close to Med front properties available for $250-400K. Occasionally there are actually waterfront properties available in that range in Calabria.
Similar properties now in Florida, SC, etc are triple or more.
Italy actually wants US retirees to move there. They just don’t want you to take a job from an Italian.
They really want web based employed people too.
There are several provinces that offer a reduced income tax for ten years if you declare residency.
Now, I just have to convince the Mrs.
Which has been the biggest challenge because we live two miles from her parents.
Who are both in their 80s.
Plus our two adult children are both within an hour drive.
