Ultra-rich using jets like taxis, climate scientists warn

The mega-rich are using private jets like taxis, warn climate scientists who tracked flights to calculate the planet-warming gases they release.

The scientists worked out that the carbon dioxide emissions, which contribute to climate change, rose by 46% between 2019 and 2023.

Researchers traced all private flights globally, including summer weekend trips to Ibiza, Spain and travel to the Fifa World Cup and the UN climate conference in Dubai.

Flying in a private jet for a single hour can release more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than the average person produces in a year, according to the research team.

“There are a lot of people using these aircraft as taxis, where you cover whatever distance by aircraft simply because it's more convenient,” Professor Stefan Gossling, from Sweden's Linnaeus University, who led the research, said.

“If somebody’s flight emits in one hour as much as an average human being emits in a year - just to watch a soccer game - then perhaps it shows those people think they are outside the standards that we have as a global community.”

Sorry, I don’t believe one word from any “climate scientist”, much less any “expert”. I’ve been hearing their nonsense for decades.

If they can’t jet around the world attending ‘climate’ conference’s and preaching to the masses how to turn off their lights, ride bikes instead of cars and reuse their bags to save the planet... What’s the point in having Global Warming?

I get your point on jets and yachts, but I don’t see punishing folks just for having the means to acquire them.

The point is rich virtue signalers always come up with sacrifices that will hurt low and middle income people but won't affect them. There's always a handy excuse as to why its perfectly OK for them to completely flout whatever "rules" they say should be placed on everybody to "save da Erf". When you point out their absolutely flaming hypocrisy to them they come up with some mealy mouthed excuses about how they paid for "carbon credits" and therefore its OK.

That's why I call carbon credits "Green Indulgences" from the Church of Gaia. They are EXACTLY the same thing that Indulgences were to the medieval Catholic Church. Hey, as long as you've got money, you can commit all the sins you want and just buy your way out. You can even preach about how everybody else should be godly and make sacrifices even as you live a life of sin.

Its the same thing.

So I come up with a list of sacrifices that don't touch the working class or the middle class but will hit the rich like a punch in the face. Let's see how THEY like making all the "sacrifices" for Gaia. Just a wild guess here.....they won't like it one bit.

The wokesters at the NFL, have teams fly to Europe to play a game, that the people who support the sport PAID FOR THE STADIUMS for that game to be played in right at home. One less team travelling at all, and imagine the greenhouse gases emitted when Seattle flies to London and back. Probably 2 round trip planeloads of players and equipment. To say nothing of the reporters, family and all of their friends and hangers on. How about the referees, the Commissioners and owners likely in their personal private jets.

It is simple, the people pushing this climate change are hypocrites. That is the only thing I get mad about because, the atmosphere is CO2 deficient. We need more to have more life. Plant life, sea life animal life...HUMAN LIFE.

They have good reason to do ‘some’ that. Time is money, and we are talking the kind of money that not just affects billionaires everyone. We now have single companies in America that generate more wealth than all of Europe.

It's not hypocrisy. The elite are saving the planet for themselves.

Millions must eat bugs and give up driving so the earth can sustain the would be global governors' lifestyle.
