First act of a Republican Senate...???

Posted on 11/06/2024 5:38:09 PM PST by Texas_Jarhead

The first act of a Republican Senate should be to censure Adam 'Shifty' Schiff. Is that a thing that can happen?

US Constitution says otherwise.

We do not propose unconstitutional legislation and hope the SCOTUS allows it to stand. The left does that.

We need to start an effort to put Voter ID and paper ballots as constitutional amendments in every state. It is easy to amend many state constitutions by a statewide vote. That would change the rules lawfully.

That should be the start. It requires a grassroots effort similar to what Scott Pressler did in Pennsylvania with registering Republicans.

The SC needs an odd number of Justices so you fail. Go back to start. Don’t collect $200.

AFATGK, Schiff confined his outrageous lying to when he was enjoying immunity from suit or criminal prosecution by virtue of acting as or being a CongressCritter.

It’s sleazy but not illegal.

And it has quite an historical pedigree.

Select a take no prisoners majority leader. No Thune. No Cronyn. No one associated with McConnell.

Yes, a bill that eliminates daylight savings, eliminates taxes on tips, and decriminalizes marijuana possession by changing the drug schedule. Those two things would bring a lot of other voters onto the Trump train.

Wrong, LOL. 100 + 9 = 109

I agree that not allowing him on any committees would be a first good step. Next they should challenge his bonafides because he is registered to vote in two states!!!!

I’m sorry but I don’t understand your post. There are 9 Supreme Court Justices which is what I was saying. Not sure how “100” plays into it.

OK, The Great Compromise was formed when the Constitution was written as the states felt they were not represented well enough, these officials were to represent their perspective states, not a political party. This did not last long and has evolved to what we see today as ‘The Great Compromisers’ sell out this country by “compromising.” With Cornyn, Thune, McConnell in the running for leader the majority GOPe senate is just half the uniparty. Do not expect the senate to improve anything in this country with the possible exception of them pushing through Trump’s picks that need senate conformation. Nothing on the fiscal side.

I agree with you SpaceJunkie2001. Sorry I couldn’t tag since this platform doesn’t support tagging cause it’s 20 years old. I’ve complained to management, but they aren’t open to change. Sort of congruent, right?

In the house as you know but if I could do it I would move all of the A-holes in to broom closets and toilet stalls for offices them start taking action against them.

Unrealistic. The filibuster requires 60 votes to override.

Is that a thing that can happen?

Sure, but it is a half measure to what needs to be done which is expulsion from office.

A resolution is on record.
H.Res.521 - Censuring Adam Schiff, Representative of the 30th Congressional District of California

Overview of Expulsion Clause

Article I, Section 5, Clause 2:
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
As you can see there is little chance of his being expelled.
