From the start, the sane among us said X & Y makes you a guy.
The size of the hands?
Duh
He shouldn’t have been boxing against the women. We agree about that.
That said, some of the DSDs are pretty tricky. Do a two minute google search and read a bit about 5-alpha reductase deficiency. Ambiguous external genitalia — in extreme cases, female appearing genitalia — are one of the complications.
This may be one of those rare cases in which the “sex assigned at birth” is indeed based on a mistaken impression. I don’t know Khelif’s story in any detail, but I have the impression he was raised as girl and has always considered himself female. He probably passed the eyeball test as an infant and in childhood. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any information regarding when his condition was actually discovered.
That’s always been fairly obvious, at least to me.
His face seems locked into some kind of permanent snarl or scowl. That part seems female.
Probably not. Drop the drawers. That will tell the tale.
No; this person has Swyer’s syndrome, an extremely rare genetic disorder. They are born with external female genitalia, no weenie.
Also, the beanies never dropped so they do not appear on the outside.
By all outward appearances, they are a female. It took genetic testing to confirm XY chromosomes.
Not everyone is born XX or XY. A small percentage of the population has XXY, XYY, and X/partial X, etc.
Supermodel Hanne Odeile has Swyers.
Well that is a relief. I wondered how such an offensively ugly woman had ever been born.
I heard about this case while the Olympics were going on. His DNA proves that he is a male, but because of abnormal development (not his fault) he was thought to be a girl when he was born. So not like the usual “trans” cases...but still unfair to women to have him competing against them because of his testosterone.
Wow, who could have guessed?! They better stop letting him fight women, before he kills one of them.
In the beginning, I thought Khalif might have Swyer’s, too.
But, this latest story (assuming it’s true) is claiming Khalif has 5-ARD.
Either way, Khalif and Khalif’s parents probably did not know Khalif has a DSD.
What’s a male? Is that different from a female?
“A small percentage of the population has XXY, XYY ...”
People born with XXY (Kleinfelter) and XYY (Jacobs) sex chromosomes are genetic males. Fifty years ago, I was a statistical consultant on an project that identified older (40+) mothers as having a slightly higher propensity to give birth to XXY males.
How do you know that??
Do you have more info on him?
There was no testing done by the Olympics. They went by the stated sex
on their passport.
Yes, there are people born with this genetic disorder you mentioned, but I honestly do not believe he is one of them.
If he is, why not do a genetic testing and prove it, instead of beating the crap out of woman ?
I wrote that all athletes should be tested for chromosomes before they are allowed to compete. Then, "only biological females would be admitted."
Just to be clear, the chromosome test would only be the start. Because the chromosome test doesn't tell everything.
Some people with XY chromosomes have a uterus and female organs, which means they are female.
There were several articles around the time of the Olympics discussing this condition.
