Happy 249th birthday, Marine Corps...
Seems just like yesterday (July 1951) that I arrived at Yemassee in the middle of the night...
Thank You Marine Corps for Your Service !!!
It’s the Corps as I remember it. I hope Marines will always be there for America. In the closing remarks of the tribute, I wish they would have included along with a Marine’s commitment to Nation, family, and fellow Marines, a commitment to the U.S. Constitution. While it’s assumed the two - Nation & Constitution - remain inseperable, it’s not a certainty. As the Nation waxes and wains, a Marine’s supreme allegiance must be to the U.S. Constitution, the guarantor of freedom for all American citizens. It’s the document all Marines swear an oath to uphold. Happy 249th Birthday and Semper fidelis to all.
A submarine sailor gives a snappy salute to the 259th! ;-)
Marines! My favorite branch. Happy Birthday to all the past, present, and future Marines.
