“that they’re losing their shock”
There will always be gestures that are for emphasis, and there will always be words to do it.
There's a small part of me that understands what you're saying. That said, what would your "punishment" of Vance be under the circumstances? Where does this transgression rank among supporters of abortion? Candidates who don't love the United States? Candidates who don't know how the Constitution works, or who attempt to use lawfare to make it more difficult for people to exercise their rights? What about candidates who are currently charged with executing federal immigration laws, but choose not to, because they don't philosophically agree to those laws? And speaking of ignoring present immigration laws, what if a lack of enforcing those laws results in the death of an American citizen?
Where exactly, are your priorities, Freeper Cymbeline? Where does the public or non-public use of a profanity rank against the murder of American citizens?
This is exactly the way a presidential race should be conducted.
No phony debates.
Just long interviews with good interviewers.
After watching “Hillbilly Elegy” I was honestly shocked he didn’t cuss more in this particular interview venue (Rogan drops a lot of colorful words and the show is aimed at young adults who aren’t going to blush at “language”).
JD’s Mamaw evidently (as JD pointed out) swore like a sailor, and he was raised in a family that was quite dysfunctional and very crude. He clearly knew the occasional cuss wasn’t going to alienate the typical JR Experience audience.
This the first time I’ve heard JD Vance speak at length and I was VERY impressed. It’s clear he is highly intelligent, processes quickly, is funny and warm and “real” — he also is willing to admit he doesn’t have all the answers but is curious to find out about these things of which he is not aware. That speaks volumes. I also like that he was/is not in lockstep with everything Trump, I think that’s a very good thing.
“dropped an f-bomb but there’s far more at stake in this election.”
.
.
The first f-bomb I heard dropped in Congress was by elected Muslim Rashida Tlaib.
(Who hates the USA).
Such open contempt shouldn’t be rewarded by repetition.
Might I suggest a Cherry 2000?
Those were the good old days.
“But Vance used the f-word, and the s-word was thrown around. I’ll never forget that.”
REALLY?! You’ll never forget THAT? The future of the entire world is at stake, and you’ll never forget F**K and S**T? Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND?
The only words that are prohibited are the ones that take the Lord’s name in vain. All other words are just words.
What cracked me up was when he and his son were baking an Oreo cake. JD had to leave the room for a minute. and when he got back the Oreos had been eaten.
Before he could say a word to his son, the kid beat him to it. “I didn’t eat the cookies. You did.”
I don’t recall if he was comparing a four-year-old to Democrats, but that’s exactly how I took it.
By accusing his father of eating the cookies when he, the son, actually ate them, he is lying to his father's face and, at the same time, gas-lighting his father (saying "you ate them and are too insane or mentally addled to remember that you did").
This kid will make a great Democrat.;-)
Ditto that!
More likely there will just be new shock words develop, as the old shock words lose their power.
This is really funny stuff. Too bad we need the Times of India to hear about it. This is better than funny.
