Yep. For one thing, conservatives and old-time liberals both believed in free speech. They were in agreement. But modern leftists are different. They want to clamp down on any speech that doesn’t fit their viewpoint exactly.

There’s even a “silence is violence” movement on the left. It’s not good enough to have no opinion on an issue. You MUST agree with them or you are committing a violent act.

Not much room for compromise there.
