They would not be able to secure their bases, personnel, supply lines, etc.

The U.S. (or any other) military wouldnât stand a chance against the American people. They would not be able to secure their bases, personnel, supply lines, etc. The flaw in your thinking is the assumption that all Americans would unite and attack with one will. What will happen is that half or more of them will be brainwashed into believing that using the military against civilians is the right thing to do, just as it was done in the Civil War.
