"My mind boggles when I see numbers. My engineer dad used to clunk me on the head every time I got a math homework question wrong."

Melian,
All of mathematics is symbol manipulation. This includes:
6-function arithmetic: + - * / ^ & unary minus; exponentiation & logarithms
functions & graphs
algebra, geometry, trigonometry
integral & differential calculus
permutations & combinations
probability & statistics
finite & infinite sets
imaginary numbers
propositional logic, conjectures, proofs
cryptography & steganography
recreational math: self-performing magic tricks, paradoxes, puzzles
cellular automata
algorithmetic thinking
formal language structures / grammar & syntax / parsing / compilers that translate high-level computer languages & interpreters into executable machine code
recursive code / LISP / neural-network modeling / artificial intelligence.

I think individual genetic brain wiring largely determines whether or not an individual is adept at math.
Chromosomes may have a bias either way.
Some persons – musicians – have music running through their heads, and can manipulate it to produce beautiful sounds through instruments. Others struggle to play the cello, guitar, horn, piano, or violin, despite many hours of practice.
Some persons – artists – have images running through their heads, like foldy.
Some persons – "nerds" – have symbols running through their heads.

[C] + [Lu] - [N] - [K] = 51.
Reverting to ordinal alphabetic notation, Q + Q + Q = 51.
ThanQ for the ping, goldbux❣️
Your posts intrigue me! I admire Melian’s ability to find/share memes! And, foldy’s creativity amazes me!
Learning about the Fibonacci Sequence and da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man led me somehow to the Galileo quote that is my tagline...
Math slide ...
*******
I had problems with most of my math courses from Calc II on. Partly because of my class C high school didn’t offer calculus at all and I didn’t seem to need to study to do okay in the math classes - that really hurt when I hit college. Took Calc 1 twice, Calc II four times (long story - partly my fault, partly a crappy instructor I tried to get away from showing up in my third attempt even though I intentionally scheduled around him!).
But when you need to, we keep pushing forward.
Your list missed Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Laplace Transforms (*those* can make stuff happen like landing rockets from space back on the pad!) and Advanced Engineering Mathematics. I still have to work a bit at remembering some of it and won’t be calculating orbital mechanics on the fly, but luckily I got good at programming MathCAD and Excel to do the complex formulas. Even helped a math major with some stuff.
Seeing the use of an algorithm in the 2020 election results didn’t take a rocket scientist. The “Let My People Go” video by Professor David Clements did a great job of illustrating that.
Okay, the coefficient of friction kicked in and this slide is over. Back to retrieving the country from the abyss.
