I have no idea how she afforded that if it costs as much as you are saying. She is a special Ed teacher (specialty is working with deaf kids) and just got laid off from her job. Is not able to retire. Would Medicare pay for that? I know she has grown children who live in California, with grandchildren … but in the 14 years I have lived next door to her, I have never once seen them come to visit her. She always drives to them during the holidays.
In further explanation, the tiny battery is good for 15 years without needing a charge. There is an alternative that is regularly recharged - I don't know what it costs. Since the device is installed subcutaneously, the charger is a 'paddle' that charges inductively.
***Would Medicare pay for that***
Since it is offered under my Medicare advantage plan, I would presume so. There was some ambiguous talk about co-pays that I couldn't get a straight answer on at the moment.
