I see raccoons in memes - was a raccoon killed unjustly too?

I haven't had time to dig into the details. From what I understand the man had a rescue squirrel Peanut and a rescue raccoon Fred as pets. When the "authorities" raided his house, they took both animals away and murdered them.

Murder? You have a squirrel for 8 years, but have to kill to look in his head for rabies? No way it would have shown in 8 years. The coon more likely but a pet for X years, no sign of rabies. Tons of law enforcement for the squirrel and coon, must have shoplifted more than $950.
