It was clear that overtime was part of the job, as it was a tax accountant position. However, there’s a big damn difference between being exempt and 10-15 hours a week ad nauseum. These last two tax seasons have worn me out, and I’m not the only one. I understand the reality: the market for 70+ YO accountants is very small. Staffing has increased from 3 to 7 over the past six months, in recognition of the workload.

I’ve worked in far worse places, so I can gut it our two more years.

I owned a CPA firm. Tax season is a burn out no matter how you look at it.

I would always have a big meal for everyone, including spouses on April 15th. I would thank the spouses for their patience as I was now returning their partner.

Tax seasons are hell. They were far worse before computers.
