Americans used to learn about this experiment and keeping America’s population down to around the 200 million of 1970 was a goal with 2.2 kids and cleaning up our nations rivers and beautifying our cities, with the moon visits happening and Mars in the future, race relations being worked out with the 88% white America and 12/13% black (pre-hispanic) Americans and English the only language used or even thought of, personal freedom at an unbelievable level compared to today.
A bright and positive future of science and advancement and social harmony and a country of wide open spaces with fishing, camping, and hunting just outside the cities yet a population big enough for everything.
Make no mistake I have always been a vocal pronatalist and i believe that humanity is better off if we have more people as we would then get economies of scale that lead to the innovation that can make extra planetary colonization more likely. Maybe these mouse utopia experiments have fueled malthusian thought and Paul Ehrlich’s Population Bomb. But I wholeheartedly disagree. I only post this to send the message that city living is not the Darwinian thing to do (and based on urban atheism rates maybe not the Godly thing to do).
I would love to see 100 billion people living on the planet.
