Did you know the Praying Mantis will kill Hummingbirds. They climb up on Hummingbird feeders, wait for a bird to come and then snatch it out of the air. Lots of videos on YouTube that will show this. It’s amazing to see. Circle of life stuff.

We had a praying mantis on our porch ceiling a few weeks ago. It was eight feet from the hummingbird feeder when we left to take the dog for a walk; when we returned it had moved to behind the porch light on its way to the feeder.

We removed it to a more suitable location, far, far away from the hummingbirds. We don’t use insectides on our lawn or plantings, so that praying mantis can do Circle of Life stuff on some suitable insect, not my birds!

I had a huge brown mantis on my hummingbird feeder this summer, and have found lots of smaller green ones
