If you’re going to put you’re loved ones into a home and they have dementia/ alzheimers, remove all jewelery. They can wear fake obvious jewelry instead. It makes no sense for them to wear such expensive stuff at that point in their lives and you’ll put them in danger of situations like this.

My MIL’s diamond rings were stolen off her hands during the 12 hours before she died. An upscale assisted living place in SoCal. Also other fine jewelry in her room.

Great advice. My mom leaves out the fake gold filled jewelry in plain sight as a test and her care staff blatantly steals the cheap stuff too. They will steal anything to sell even fakes.

This wasn’t stolen at the nursing home, it was stolen at the hospital.
