Let me guess: it’s them again, Yogi.
of the hundreds or thousands of containers on that train, how did they know which one to rob?
I hate to say it, but this reminds me of truck drivers that used to tip the mafia off about their shipment, and then they’d be “robbed.” They would receive a cut.
Someone had to have tipped these people off for them to know the high value of that particular car’s contents. It would be too big of a risk otherwise - you could end up with an empty car.
These fencing operations should be prosecuted under RICO. Coordinated shoplifting, as well.
I worked with the BNSF train dispatchers in Ft. Worth (1993 ~ 2013) and the Union Avenue dispatcher never allowed a train to stop in that area. For this very reason.
This obviously took hours but the cops didn’t show up until the end. Should have sent in the army to surround them not letting anyone slip through. Don’t let the wimpy judges reduce charges or reduce sentences. Through the book at them and make sure they stay in prison to the very last minute. Throw in jaywalking for a few more days.
This is why there are shortages and inflation. This is also why insurance is so high. Companies will charge customers for this.
They can trace the device ID to the specific router in the house and the name and address on whoever is paying the monthly cable/FIOS bill.
What they also don't want to share is that they won't go after a single set - because the television is the device to facilitate consumerism, where the viewers are sold to advertisers, every day, all day. The carriers gave away smaller flat screen televisions for a while when customers signed up for cable or high-speed internet service.
Ah! Yet another Jane Goodall Teachable Moment™

If I owned a railroad, I’d avoid Chicago, or at least refuse to go less than 50 mph through the city.
These thieves won’t stop until there are deadly consequences for their actions.
I hope someone films it when they start doing this in the middle of the prarie and stop the train with dynomite. I love Westerns....and would like some new ones!
Life repeats...
It’s called looting at that stage.
I read about this yesterday, and saw some real time video.
Since this was so planned and targeted, I was honestly a bit concerned that it was cover for stealing something else. For example MANPADS, something of great concern recently.
The slow police response especially to something so brazen, is insane.
I still do not think this should be thought of as just a big TV theft. They need to check the manifests on that entire train and rule out bigger issues.
