My people were all NJ Irish. Hudson County , NJ.
Tradespeople mostly. Bricklayers, stone masons, my dad’s people that is. They were from Belfast.
My mothers people were from Waterford. They were the ‘’Lace Curtain’’ Irish. They had education and did well. My late mother was an RN.

We has lace curtains too. You had to wash them by hand, soak them in starch, and then stretch them out on “curtain stretchers” which took up the whole basement.
