Always follow the old advice: split hooves and chew cudd for mammals. If not, don’t eat them.

(Horses have neither split hooves, nor chew cudd, to my knowledge.)

The fish is a tricky one. Lobsters, shrimp, scallops, clams, oysters and crab. Are a no go. To say nothing of catfish. I can live without a lot of seafood, but shrimp, scallops, and fried oysters? It’s been years since I ate them, but especially shrimp..YUMMMM.
I think the cut line is whatever eats live things in the sea is okay, whatever eats dead things is bad. Crabs exist to eat anything on the bottom of the water, not moving things. So, people who drown and make it to the bottom, are devoured by crabs. I DON’T EAT CRAB... Catfish, are gross compared to Halibut, Cod or Salmon. Never eat that stuff.

PIG. Split hooves but do not chew the cud. They root for roots and worms and other nasties. Best pig are farm raised and fed grain.

In the olden days, cattle were fed grain. then hogs brought in to eat the manure waste, then chickens to eat the pig manure.
Again, the olden days.
