Prayers for you and yours, FRiend. I have a SIL and nieces, nephews, and their families near you. One niece is a nurse, and she’s a really wonderful person to be around in troubled times. I know she’s very busy, especially right now. All hands on deck.

Take it seriously, 28 ft waves reported recently in forward portion of storm. Winds in Tampa Bay will peak a lot higher than 50 mph (in my estimation, landfall will be around Clearwater at about 0200-0300). These spot wind forecasts are based on a coarse grid that does not totally nail down probable structure of the hurricane. Potential for 110 mph winds gusting 140 at least briefly as collapsing eye moves inland. Gusts over 100 just about certain. ... Yes it will weaken rapidly but probably not until after moving 20-30 miles inland, certainly hope to be wrong but I don’t see major weakening of this storm until 0600 (even so, inland winds will still be damaging, gusts to 100+ will be felt to Orlando).

Surge is “baked in” now, only question being whether max surge penetrates Tampa Bay or is held down by landfall being further south like Sarasota. If my predicted landfall is correct, unfortunately Tampa Bay will see major surge and very strong winds.
