I lived in New Orleans between '74 and '75. I met Al Copeland at the Popeye's on Chef Menteur. He had three locations in New Orleans, and he told me he was franchising. I thought he'd put one in Baton Rouge, Jackson, and Biloxi. Next thing I knew they were everywhere.

The chicken at the New Orleans Popeye's is much spicier than anywhere else.

When we used to travel between Texas and Florida we always stopped at a Popeye’s in Louisiana. 2 to 3 times a year.

We have only eaten at our local Popeye’s here in Florida once in 10 years.
