and just like that, the storm weakened like they all do...will probably hit Florida as a Cat 2 or 3...cause some heavy damage at the point of landfall, some flooding, power outages and then be gone. Now doesnt he feel stupid today?...

I have been asking climate change nuts the same question for years. The first weather satellites were launched in 1959-1960, and the first hurricane hunter aircraft went into service during WW II. Prior to then, hurricanes were monitored and assessed only after they were encountered by landfall or maritime ship.
