Doesn’t include those choosing to carry their cellular phone in a faraday “bag”.

Doesn’t include those choosing to carry their cellular phone in a faraday “bag”. Or just turn the damned thing off. If you do that (either one) no one can call you. Once you power on or take it out of the bag, you will establish contact with the tower.
To: SharpRightTurn
Except the tracking all those phones part. Especially when they can tell you those devices had not before been detected at a Trump rally. They may get cell tower pings but I keep my locate n turned off. Sure sounds big brother-ish to me.

Yes. GPS is a satellite transmitted, passive ground reception system. I can get a latitude, longitude, altitude and time from the multiple transmitters without any need to tell anyone. If I want to get a live map I do have to provide that info to the mapping server. Lots of programs want that info primarily to advertise to me, but I turn off location services unless I am actively using it.
Even with that turned off, the phone system itself can ID your phone and triangulate between multiple antennas although it won't be as accurate as GPS with a couple meter accuracy. It might not be able to tell where you are in the crowd, but it will tell you are at or near the Trump rally. But to get the locations and origin that means multiple phone company are aggregating the info and passing it on.

After seeing the pagers go off with the terrorists, I would rather they check ALL electronics at the door!

You are tracked regardless if you have a cell phone or not.

That’s why my cell phone spends about 99% of its time sitting in a drawer, turned off. I don’t carry it around routinely.
To: SharpRightTurn
Or leave it home inside a faraday cage. Or in the truck with one. 🤔😁👍
