I went and voted this afternoon. Security at courthouse entrance said that it has been steady, joking that there won’t be anyone left to vote by Election Day.
I was voter 689 for today in my red and rural county. A friend who lives in a larger city that is often blue said there were long lines.
Her husband waited 3 hours yesterday and she waited 30 minutes today.
I find it interesting, IL doesn’t have a requirement for ID to vote. But this was the 2nd time where lines were long, that we were told that providing our drivers license would speed up the process, but not required. You have to fill out a paper w/name, address, DOB for them to look you up. But with license, they scan it and it finds you faster in the system and then they double check with what you filled out. It does move the process along a bit quicker.
Taking orders from The Boss, my DH and I early voted in a democrat-run county on the west side of Missouri today.
The weather was absolutely perfect, high 60’s with a light wind, people solicitous to the handicapped and elderly, being entertained by toddlers and puppers, chatting about everything except politics, which is a long-winded way of saying it took us 4 1/2 hours to vote, but we’re done.
