I’m not clear on why Trump is encouraging early voting. Can someone explain it to me?

My thoughts:

Clearly the demsheviks are planning mayhem and violence etc may cause problems getting to the polling places on Nov.5.

And, in addition, whatever cyber-attacks are planned for that particular day. That's over and above the AFECA "Homeland Security Conference on Critical Infrastructure" planned for either Election Day or Nov. 6-7 (I forget which).

Trump is encouraging early voting for several reasons.

1. Things happen on election day that cause people who intended to vote, not to vote.
2. It is hard to win an election, at any level, if you go into election day with the other party already having a large percentage of their vote in the bank.
3. Republicans NOT early voting gives the Democrats a heads up as to how many ballots they may need to overcome a small Republican lead.

I am personally opposed to early voting for ANY reason. I think vote by mail should be highly restricted to a small list of reasons. I would re-register the entire country to require proof of citizenship and include a photo & fingerprint printed in the voter roll. When you vote, you should have to provide a photo ID and enter a finger print to prove you are you.

That said, you operate each election with things as they are. If you don't win elections, you will have no chance to change things.

Normally we vote in person at our designated place, but we early voted on Wednesday to avoid any craziness on election day. There was a line outside to get in, probably a 20 -30 min wait to get inside to vote.
