Yet another Communist Cuban prosecutor and repressor is granted entry to U.S.

Translated excerpt with translator’s comments:

Former Cuban prosecutor Rosabel Roca Sampedro, responsible for sentencing July 11 protesters in Camagüey to over 4 years in prison, is now in the United States, where she arrived through CBP One. Several legislators had requested that the U.S. government not allow her entry into the country.

Roca Sampedro, who sentenced four protesters from the July 11, 2021 demonstrations in Camagüey to up to four and a half years in prison, entered the U.S. via a CBP One appointment on July 15, despite a letter from three Cuban-American congresspeople to the Department of Homeland Security asking that her asylum request be denied following a Martí Noticias report.

Roca Sampedro was involved in cases against four young people who have been imprisoned since 2021 for participating in the protests, and she sought harsher sentences for the protesters in defense of the “revolution.”

Martí Noticias documented her entry through the U.S.-Mexico border at Brownsville, Texas. Roca Sampedro has already obtained a work permit. Under the Cuban Adjustment Act, she could apply for a green card after a year and a day in the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to a request for comment from Martí Noticias. Adrián Díaz, a close associate of Roca Sampedro who acted as her sponsor for her arrival in the U.S., also did not respond to a request for comment.

A tenant at the Marquis On Westheimer condominium in Houston, Texas, said that the former prosecutor had lived there in recent months but did not know where she had moved. The condominium’s management stated that their privacy policies prevented them from providing information about current or past residents.

Roca Sampedro left Cuba with her young daughter and deleted a social media profile where she had shown strong support for the Cuban regime. The former prosecutor has an older daughter living in Houston.

Javier Larrondo, director of the NGO Prisoners Defenders, which specializes in documenting human rights violations in Cuba, said that Roca Sampedro was the prosecutor in charge of case “number 26 of 2022, from Preparatory Phase File 31 of 2021, for Attack and Disrespect” against the protesters.

“Because of this prosecutor’s work, four innocent people were sentenced to between 4 years and 4 months and 3 years and 6 months in prison,” Larrondo said.

After the July 11, 2021 protests, which were the largest peaceful demonstrations in Cuba’s recent history and were violently repressed by the government, the regime sentenced more than 1,000 people to prison. Political prisoners in Cuba are a major obstacle in U.S.-Cuba relations and have been condemned by international organizations.

This crap is happening much too often. It seems as if not a day goes by without some Castronoid repressor showing up in the U.S. What is going on is so beyond comprehension that it’s impossible NOT to conclude that the Biden administration is hell-bent on filling the U.S. with as many agents of the Cuban dictatorship as possible. Never mind the sheer injustice of rewarding these repressors with entry to the U.S., each and every one of them is a potentially serious security risk.
