Blackhawks and Chinooks kick up a lot more downdraft than other birds.
one would think the pilot should have known that.

(America-has citizens who will cross an ocean to fight for freedom but won't cross the street to vote)
Can someone help me out with reading this map.
The storm is hinting Florida as I type this but the weather stations in the middle of the storm shows wind speeds of 13 miles/hr with guests up to 25 miles/hr. Again in the middle of the red area of the storm.
https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap on the right (atmospheric conditions) hit satellite then weather station hit Temperature and wind

Prolly figured it out during the hover - you could just see the “ohcrap what do I do now?” light go off when he pulled into a hover and started seeing stuff getting blown away. It looks like he paused, tried to figure it out, pulled pitch and lifted off, then circled at altitude while seeing his career dissipation alarm light going off...then left.

Lone would think the pilot should have known that. He does, that's why his crew was grounded. That and getting caught on camera with his AC ID all over the place.
