Isn't the highway patrol also called the state police, though?
And the beginning of every episode of the old series Highway Patrol, the announcer says this: "Whenever the laws of any state are broken, a duly authorized organization swings into action. It may be called the state troopers, militia, the rangers, or the highway patrol."
(I watch a few episodes every once in a while and took it that state troopers meant state police.)
Granted, the old HP series started 69 years ago (1955 to 1959), and I thought maybe the terminology had changed. But no!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_police#United_States
"In the United States, state police (also termed highway patrol, state patrol, or state highway patrol), or state troopers, are a police body unique to 49 of the U.S. states..."
Hawaii's the exception. Doesn't that mean North Carolina does have a state police, but they just call it the highway patrol?
For those interested, the whole HP series is on YouTube. Here's the first episode:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGfvUHcRlR0I agree with you re 'state police' - I think the MSN was splitting hairs - but even so, they 'claim' that the NC State Police don't have such arrest orders. Could be that aside from lying on the part of the MSN, Biden can up the ante and demand that NC State Police not answer questions etc. Won't the Regime pull 'national security' rank? Threaten State Police?
Here's what North Carolina says (they also call them State Troopers):
"The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready, should any act of terrorism occur."
Here's what CIA controlled Wikipedia says:
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) is the highway patrol agency for North Carolina which has no per-se "state police" agency. The Patrol has jurisdiction anywhere in the state except for federal or military installations and on the Cherokee Indian Reservation or on Cherokee outlying lands in the western mountains. NCSHP personnel at times conduct formations, inspections, honor guard activities. The primary mission of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol is to ensure safe and efficient transportation on the streets and highways, reduce crime, protect against terrorism, enforce motor vehicle laws, and respond to natural and man-made disasters.
That first episode of Highway Patrol reminds us of how far we’ve come since 1955!

In Oregon, the Oregon State Police are also highway patrol. OSP we call them.
