ATLANTA -- — The Mets are headed to the postseason after Francisco Lindor's two-run homer in the ninth capped a wild back-and-forth over the final two innings, giving New York an 8-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday in the opener of a makeup doubleheader squeezed in before the start of the playoffs.
Atlanta would also earn a wild-card berth by winning the second game, which would eliminate Arizona. If the Mets sweep, the Diamondbacks would get in at the Braves' expense.
The Braves led 3-0 heading to the eighth behind rookie starter Spencer Schwellenbach, but that was long forgotten by the end of this thriller.

As i said in the main thread- rumors have been Sale is injured- he has not pitched in almost two weeks. The fact he was scratched from the nightcap, which is a win or go home game for the Braves, is proof its pretty serious.

Lindor is resting in the 2nd game, and Pete Alonso never does a damn thing, so the Braves should be fine.
Chris Sale has missed essentially the last 5 seasons due to injury.
Pete has struggled at times at the plate this season but he’s done a great job in the field.
The "Polar Bear" melted at the plate this season. Defense isn't worth $50m+ per year. Cohen would be better off trying for Soto.

Thanks for that. I have gotten so confused with the weather here and the delayed games and then double header with the Mets. I’m old and couldn’t keep up with the changes. The announcers babbled so much about what the schedule was that it just got more confusing.
Now the Braves are on their way to San Diego. I stayed in touch with family in Tucson (D-Backs) and in San Diego (Padres) and thought it ironic that members of our family (Braves for me) were concentrating on three of the teams to watch....The relative in Tucson wrote that they watched the doubleheader that was played here but didn’t tell me where the D-Backs stood..
One of the announcers today said that “they” can just make a short trip up to L.A., to play the Dodgers - is that what is next - the Dodgers have their spot already? AND the winner goes to L.A.? I’ll count on you to clear it up for me....LOL The cousin in San Diego tries but he said he’s getting a headache trying to keep up and he knows I’ll get confused more.
Now I’m tired - worn out and ready to take a book and go to bed...weather and baseball took a toll!!!
