Wow, pretty cool.

Lots of stuff happening then.

If he was born in one of the thirteen original colonies he (like bastard brat of a scotch pedlar Al Hamilton) was “grandfathered in” to POTUS eligibility (a mere “citizen”, lol, of the new federal republic as of the adoption of the Constitution in 1788).

Alexander Hamilton was not born in what is now the US but in one of the British West Indies and came to New York as a young man.

One of my grandfathers was an immigrant--his grandfather born in 1780 never came to America. My other grandfather had ancestors in America going back to the 1600s. I joined the SAR on the basis of an ancestor who served in the Virginia militia in the Revolutionary War and was at Yorktown, so he may have seen General Washington there.
