The classical music and muted lighting helps with the ambiance. I'm glad you mentioned this. One of the things I love about this place and one my favorite things to say to the cashier is "Thank you for the Brahms." or the like. Blank stares ensue, but at least it's not muzak and it's not "Hits from the 80's".

At our local Food City, which is aimed at Hispanics, the music is '70s Soul/Disco. Go figure. Just that location, too. The others play the mariachi music you'd expect.
