Collectivism causes a reflex of basic survival in everyone, everyone becoming pragmatically corrupt, from the Central Committee down to the blind beggar.

What is the true definition of “socialism”?

Govt ownership of the means of production,

Or a govt with a big social safety net and accompanying high tax rates?

“China has proudly proclaimed itself to be a Communist country ever since Mao Zedong came to power in the late 1940s.”

“Proclaimed itself.” They are still under some form of Communism, but it has changed a lot over the last 30+ years. Meanwhile, what do we call our Western system, “Democracy?”

For thousands of years, China has oriented towards collectivism (i.e., the collective good).

Ergo, the success or failure of socialism/Marxism in China has little to no bearing on how socialism/Marxism would affect the U.S.

The United States is a highly individualistic culture. Remove or even impair the ideals of individuality, meritocracy, and innovation and our economy would stumble and fall.

In fact, thanks to DEI, we are about to find out how hard we will fall.

Communism never works. Things get so bad that it either goes free market, or it goes fascist. China went the latter.
