It’s like the NFL. We’re up to a 17 game season-soon to be 18. We don’t have to watch but the expanded playoffs are like catnip to people who think their so-so team has a chance for the playoffs.
Trials and investigations take too long and cost too much. Elections are a 2 year drumroll keeping us uptight.

No, its not like the NFL or any other entertainment. This is a decision to decide which was society and governance should proceed. Things that have the well-being of your family and mine as a consequence. Just because many treat elections like entertainment or soap opera seasons doesn’t mean the actual process is wrong but people in general aren’t giving it the critical thinking it requires. - - Obviously, this is my opinion and your milage may vary.
I haven't followed local trials for quite some. Back in the day it was unusual to have a criminal trial last more than a few days. A high profile case may have lasted a week or so. It was very unusual to have one last more than 2 weeks.
