Brings out the Maryiannne Williamson's and Viveks out there. It's like a political industrial complex-sells books. Election season should last 60 days with the parties picking the candidates. Primaries restricted to the house and local issues. It's been getting stupid for too long.
We’re being played. It can stop if we want it. Imagine all the vitriol that would disappear if there’s nothing to be gained. Election season should start 60 days before the election with no advertising allowed.
You can't do anything about the length of the campaign. Those who want to be President are free to campaign whenever they want. As for voting...early voting and mail in balloting are invitations to voter fraud. They should both be outlawed. And as for counting the votes...that's where much of the skulduggery occurs so you're not gonna be seeing any Rats wanting changes there.
Right. The way things are now, we have all this duration of campaigning which, (for Liberals anyway), amounts to incessant, annoying and vacuous film bites… no speeches, no debates, nothing significant!!
So is Baseball Season
And Football Season
And Basketball Season.
Basically - anything that additional money can be made from by extending it beyond what a reasonable person would expect.
I have thought this many times. I agree with you 100%. Politicians should be hit with a gag order until 60 days out. Americans need a break from all their BS. Look how the far-left, “Media Mafia” made an over the hill, broken-down Jamaican hooker into “the smartest woman on the planet” by just throwing the current president under the bus.
Your presidency assessment should take place every day, then ascribed to the permanent record once every four years.
It’s like the NFL. We’re up to a 17 game season-soon to be 18. We don’t have to watch but the expanded playoffs are like catnip to people who think their so-so team has a chance for the playoffs.
Trials and investigations take too long and cost too much. Elections are a 2 year drumroll keeping us uptight.

Elections should be held on Election Day PERIOD.

No, its not like the NFL or any other entertainment. This is a decision to decide which was society and governance should proceed. Just because many treat elections like entertainment or soap opera seasons doesn’t mean the actual process is wrong but people in general aren’t giving it the critical thinking it requires. - - Obviously, this is my opinion and your milage may vary.
This is why their governments are not as stable as ours. Why do we want to be like Europe in this regard? I'm sorry if you don't like the election coverage, extended BS and such. You can just turn it off.
I agree. But the real question of this post is how long the campaigns should be.

I might agree but 60 days out is insufficient. The democrats plan to have Saddam Hussein elections for the future.
That is where you get to vote for Saddam or you get to vote for Saddam.
See, that solves the whole problem of electioneering.

Everything has pros and cons. We all want a magic bullet to fix things. Now why does this author want a short election season like England? Has it worked that well there? Do you think the deep state wants us thinking?
A longer election does allow more discussions of the issues. Look how long it has taken for us to change things. We have made some amazing advances.
