I think it was me who said it could not explode.
I guess what I meant was a lithium battery as small as one would find in a pager would not likely result in an explosion like we’ve seen in the videos today. Merely suggesting implanted explosives are far more likely in this case.

You must have meant your comment to be directed to someone else, I didn’t say lithium batteries can’t ‘explode’ into flames. The large battery thing being carried into the elevator was far, far larger than a personal beeper and was carried by some kind of handle that would have isolated the guy’s hand from the obviously very hot battery as it got hotter and hotter before reaching a critical temperature. Those small beepers almost certainly each contained a small amount of VERY powerful plastic explosive along with a specially designed micro-detonator that could be remotely triggered.
