Never take a pill that interferes with your body’s normal function.

I won’t touch weight loss drugs or statins for this reason. Nor will I have weight loss surgery. Everyone I know who has done it regrets it. It either doesn’t work, or works too well and they wind up with nutritional deficiencies.

I took liraglutide off and on for several years. Appetite reduction was immediate, with about an 8-10% body weight reduction. The side effects were intolerable. Even at the initial, lower dosing - debilitating constipation, of the’anatomy altering’ degree. The most dangerous was gastro reflux when lying down. Food just sat in the stomach for hours, and while sleeping would regurgitate and I’d barely wake in time to close my epiglottis and not choke, in fact I did inhale stomach contents a few times (even a ml of stomach acid is dangerous). I vomited after a single ibuprofen hours later...it just sat there being caustic in the stomach. The risk of aspiration wasn’t worth it.
